AFS ’s
core expertise:
aircraft refuelling

Experience, service and solutions

AFS Aviation Fuel Services GmbH fuels an average of 300,000 aircraft per year, including commercial and cargo flights as well as general aviation. Tailored to the specific airport and the customers’ requirements, we plan fuelling operations to ensure they are carried out quickly, cost-effectively and efficiently.

To achieve this, we draw on our experience, our specialist staff and an extensive infrastructure.

In addition to logistics expertise and software solutions, these include:

  • Dispensers
  • Mini-dispensers
  • Advisors and points of contact for airports and airlines

AFS operates two different types of refuelling services

  • Joint ventures with oil companies: On behalf of our shareholders at the respective locations, we manage the operation of the facilities and the fuelling of airlines.
  • Our own sites: Here we act as an independent service provider – including pricing – with our own staff and fleet.

New locations

Our new shareholder structure gives us even more scope for the further development and growth of our business areas. The aim is to establish new locations worldwide and make our management experience and specialist expertise available to interested partners. We would be happy to support you in the sustainable realization of your project!

for aviation fuels

Controlled and standardized processes

Careful monitoring of aviation fuels, from production through to delivery to the aircraft, is a prerequisite for aircraft fuelling. AFS Aviation Fuel Services GmbH primarily supplies JET A-1 kerosene, which complies with the current version of the JIG Aviation Fuel Quality Requirements for Jointly Operated Systems (AFQRJOS), DEFSTAN 91-91 and ASTM D 1655-08a. In addition, AVGAS 100 LL aviation fuel is available for refuelling aircraft with piston engines at some locations.

The necessary checks and procedures are internationally standardized. Using modern test methods, checks are carried out before the product is accepted, during storage, after the tankers have been filled from the storage facility, and before and during fuelling to ensure that the fuel is always clear and free from water or impurities (clear and bright).

In addition, filters are used during storage – from road bridgers, rail tanker or a pipeline into the airport storage facility – and during transfer from the storage facility to the fueling truck to filter out any water particles or dirt.

High-purity fuel for aircraft refuelling

Aircraft with piston engines are fuelled with high-octane aviation fuel, known as AVGAS. AFS refuels exclusively with AVGAS 100 LL (DEFSTAND 91-90) and tests it multiple times to ensure compliance with all quality standards. At every AFS site, specially trained quality inspectors work in close coordination with the Chief Quality Inspector in the specialist department of the head office to ensure a high standard of product quality.
